Funding Reforms, Drop in sessions & More...
What do the NHS funding reforms mean for students?

From September 2017, new students in England studying pre-registration nursing and midwifery courses will be required to pay fees on their courses. But what does this mean in practice? From this point, all students will now have access to the standard student support package of tuition fee loans and support for living costs - this replaces the existing NHS grant scheme, and brings nursing and midwifery students on-par with other students studying university courses.

As with the current student loans system, no up-front fees will be required, and repayments start at a very low rate, for example, a newly qualified nurse earning £21,700 will pay back their loan at around £5.25 a month. For some, the existing NHS bursary system fails to provide adequate support for living costs - the new loans will ensure that trainees will receive around 25% more funding support at university.

Student Finance Drop in Sessions

Request that a member of our education liaison and outreach team visits your school or college to provide one-to-one student finance support for students completing their higher education applications.

In school/college drop-in sessions are the perfect opportunity for students to ask questions about student finance, UCAS applications, and personal statements. Support is provided by experienced members of staff who can advise on all aspects of the application process.

For more information and to book please contact us.

Changes to UCAS Tariff

The UCAS tariff is changing. The biggest change is that AS levels are now positioned as 40%, rather than 50% of an A-Level. The UCAS website has a range of resources explaining the changes and how they might impact students.

At Middlesex we will be moving away from using the tariff point system, and will begin using grades in our offer and decision-making. This is so we can ensure that our entry requirements are as clear as possible, and can be more easily related to the qualification profiles of prospective students.

Undergraduate Open Days

Open days are a perfect opportunity for students to explore our outstanding facilities and get a feel for university life.

They also provide opportunities to meet staff and current students as well as to ask questions about courses and subjects such as admissions, fees, funding and finding accommodation.

Your students can register for our open days here.

Best wishes
