Progression Opportunities, Tariff Changes & More...
Aspiration & attainment raising opportunities at Middlesex

This academic year we are offering three unique progression opportunities for students interested in business, law and the social sciences.

MDX Debate is all about encouraging young students to engage with contemporary social issues. With prizes for the winning group, and debating workshops MDX Debate is the perfect opportunity for students to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a ‘good’ debater. The two debates are scheduled for 21 November and 12 December and are appropriate for students in years 9 and 10.

The MDX Talk series offers free in-school sessions exploring issues surrounding law, sociology, criminology and politics in the UK, in Europe, and within the wider global community. Talks are suitable for AS and A-Level students and are particularly suitable for students studying Law, Sociology, Government/Politics, and English.

Finally, our Enterprise Development Hub workshops are is designed to inspire and advise students with aspirations to own their own business or be self-employed. FutureLearn Courses Announced

The Business School has entered into an exciting partnership with FutureLearn, the popular UK-based social learning platform. FutureLearn will be launching three new online Social Enterprise courses (MOOCs) together with Middlesex University over the next 12 months.

The three social enterprise courses are on Business Doing Good,Turning Ideas into Action and Growing a Sustainable Business. These courses will provide individuals with an understanding of what it takes to launch and run a sustainable social enterprise.

Changes to UCAS Tariff

The UCAS tariff is changing. The biggest change is that AS levels are now positioned as 40%, rather than 50% of an A-Level. The UCAS website has a range of resources explaining the changes and how they might impact students.

At Middlesex we will be moving away from using the tariff point system, and will begin using grades in our offer and decision-making. This is so we can ensure that our entry requirements are as clear as possible, and can be more easily related to the qualification profiles of prospective students.

Undergraduate Open Days

Open days are a perfect opportunity for students to explore our outstanding facilities and get a feel for university life.

They also provide opportunities to meet staff and current students as well as to ask questions about courses and subjects such as admissions, fees, funding and finding accommodation.

Your students can register for our open days here.
