Events & News from Enterprise for High School Students and our Partners
Enterprise for High School Students
Enterprise students at Olympic Club

What a summer for Enterprise programs! We trained 40+ youth in workshops where they learned how to interview, write resumes and cover letters, and explore options after high school. And we had almost 140 Enterprise youth members working all around the city this summer! We had 15 Junior Caddies at the Olympic Club, 24 gardeners with SF Rec and Park, 52 interns placed in various career fields throughout San Francisco, and 46 sales associates at Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic. It was a great summer for the youth! And now as summer programs wind down and youth go back to school, we start gearing up for the fall and training the incoming 75 youth.

Gatsby Summer Afternoon from Fall Art & Antiques Show Cultural Partner
Gatsby Summer Afternoon Sunday
September 11, 2016, from 1 - 6 pm
Dunsmuir Hellman House, Oakland

Now in its 32nd year, the Gatsby Summer Afternoon is a unique occasion to join several hundred aficionados of the 1920s and '30s, as they step back to a time when elegance was a way of life. Picnics range from the basic to collectors' extravaganzas of period tableware and memorabilia; exquisite antique automobiles dot the lawn. Play, picnic, sip Champagne, and dance to the authentic jazz-age arrangements of the Royal Society Jazz Orchestra. Contests, cocktails, wine-tasting, croquet and a fabulous bathing beauty revue are all part of the day.

Ed Ruscha exhibit from Fall Art & Antiques Show Cultural Partner
Ed Ruscha and the Great American West
Through October 9th

Ed Ruscha has long been drawn to the subject of the American West and its role in our national mythology. Through more than 80 works in a range of media, this exhibition explores Ruscha’s commitment to depicting the spare and evocative landscapes that first inspired him as a young man and that still compel his work today.

The Future of the Past Mummies and Medicine

May 14, 2016 – Aug 26, 2018
Legion of Honor

Ancient Egypt meets modern medicine in The Future of the Past: Mummies and Medicine, now on view at the Legion of Honor. This exhibition makes use of state of-the-art scientific techniques to explore two of the Fine Arts Museums’ mummies, which viewers can also examine by means of an interactive virtual dissection table. An interdisciplinary team of scientists, Egyptologists, physicians, and museum curators and conservators presents new information about how these embalmed individuals lived, died, and were prepared for eternity.

Louis XV porcelian tray from Fall Art & Antiques Show Cultural Partner
Exhibition Talk: Sèvres and Vincennes Porcelain from the Gustavo Seriñá Collection
Sunday, October 30, 2016

Florence Gould Theater, Legion of Honor

In conjunction with the exhibition, Sèvres and Vincennes Porcelain from the Gustavo Seriñá Collection, John Whitehead, a leading dealer and scholar in French porcelain, will present a talk. The tray to the right is probably one of two plateaux Duplessis from a déjeuner service purchased by Louis XV on Christmas Eve, 1761. Jean-Claude Duplessis père (ca. 1694–1774) was the chief designer at Sèvres in the 1750s, and many of the factory’s models from this period bear his name.
