Summer vacation has been quite exciting this year!
The children’s boundless energy combined with the staff and volunteers’ enthusiasm for park time, swimming classes, theatre workshops, craft activities and cultural outings made each activity special.
A huge thanks to our Australian sponsors who make it possible for the Boys to go to the swimming pool and take football classes every year.
Thanks as well to our volunteers, Amélie who spent time at Tara Boys and Julie who spent time at Tara Tots and Girls, who have returned to France.
The vacation has also been an opportunity for the children to reflect on how to be a good citizen, through their review of Tara’s Child Protection Policy, (click here to read the article about it on our blog) and the conduction of a workshop on waste management by the NGO Chintan, while nutrition and hygiene education were the central themes of the debates brought up with the children by our Medical Officer, Ridhima.
Clément and Céline, other volunteers, captured these precious moments with their impressive professional camera and it is only a matter of time before the release of this new Tara video can delight your eyes and ears with the summer’s laughs! Thanks to them.
Finally, the Foundation Saint Gobain's support provided the homes with a facelift: after long weeks of renovations, they are now (almost) brand new!
For a while, Tara Tots children moved to the Tara Girls home and the cohabitation, despite the logistical headache of the staff, seems to have overjoyed the children!

Holidays ended with the French Ambassador M. Alexandre Ziegler’s visit to Tara Homes, which was also his first official visit in India (click here to see the embassy article on the subject). The children, dressed up to the nines, questioned his Excellency and wisely listened to his advice.

Minds full of memories, the children started the new school year and its share of changes:

Tara Boys Rashid’s hard-work and perseverance, along with his sponsor’s warm support, allowed him to pass St Mary’s School entrance examination. Congratulations to Rashid for being admitted in one of the best schools of Delhi!

Rakesh finally took the plunge from Tara Boys to Tara Big Birds; his 18 years enjoy this brand new independence with a pinch of apprehension and a lot of pride. Find the article written about the Tara Big Birds in clicking here.

On the side of his cadets, Farhaan is currently in transition from his position of Tara Tots' senior to Tara Boys, which seems very enticing to him.

Tara Girls is growing and welcomed the pretty smiles of two sisters, Meenakshi and Tannu!

Finally, it is also a time of change for the sponsorship at Tara Girls, which innovates again and again. It has indeed appeared to us that sponsoring a child was more meaningful, for him/her just as much as for you, than participating in the general expenses of the house. Children identify more easily with their sponsors; we have therefore decided to give you the opportunity to become the sponsors of our Tara Girls by guaranteeing a specific part of their well-being.
Sponsorship possible from 10€ to 60€/month.

For a child, it will be possible to sponsor:

  • Her education expenses
  • Her roof over head
  • Her meals and snacks
  • Her sports and art activities
  • Her books, toys and stationery
  • Her caregivers
  • Her health care
  • Her clothes and bedding
  • Her water, electricity, phone bills
  • Her outings

The girls will write two letters a year to their sponsors, for Christmas and during their summer vacation. On your request, you will be able to access their (strictly confidential) Case Study in order to better understand their situation.

We believe that this change is in the interest of children and will enable them to sustain their future at Tara and we hope you will support us in this little revolution.
However, if you do not want to give your support to a specific girl, it is also possible to contribute to the welfare of all the girls by letting us assign your sponsorship to our most urgent needs.

Three newcomers also joined Tara’s staff:
  • Anjuman, Polyvalent Social Worker at Tara Boys and Tara Big Birds
  • Ravina, Child Welfare Officer at Tara Girls
  • Zuha, Polyvalent Social Worker at Tara Tots and Tara Girls

Their arrival is greatly appreciated by all here!

Is Tara really meeting its aims? To which extent? What challenges is Tara still to address? How to measure what works and what does not?
We are proud to share with you the first ever Impact Assessment of Tara conducted by two volunteers, who carried out 43 interviews of children, staff members, trustees, partners and sponsors.
This report will allow us to share widely the achievements of Tara and to keep on improving by addressing the challenges identified by the interviewees.
