Top 5 Ways to support Reserves Day 2016

1. Invite your Reservists to wear their uniform to work on 8th September.
2. Put posters up at work to raise awareness of Reserves Day.
3. Hold a lunchtime talk, for your Reservist employees to speak to colleagues about their experience as a Reservist.
4. Play Reservist themed activities to promote the benefits that Reservists bring into the workplace.
5. Tweet #ReservesDay on 8th Sept to publicly declare your support.

Note that Cadet Force Adult Instructors are also included in Reserves Day initiatives. And any employer that hasn't yet signed the Armed Forces Covenant pledge could create quite a buzz by signing it on the 8th September!

The Armed Forces Covenant; 1000 signatories and counting!
In East Anglia, organisations that pledged their support over the last month, included the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, Business Connected, Colchester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Norse Commercial Services.

There is a new Armed Forces Covenant website with improved search functionality, to find organisations that have signed the covenant, and view their pledge.

The Celebration of Bedfordshire Magazine showcases what Bedfordshire has to offer.

The special issue was produced by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis, and her team and includes wonderful content about the cadets and other youth organisations in the county.

The magazine has been sponsored by local businesses and all proceeds will go to local charities, including ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and UpRising.

28 Squadrons parade together for the 75th anniversary of the ATC

400 cadets and adult staff of the Air Training Corps Norfolk & Suffolk Wing assembled for their 75th Anniversary Parade and Service of Thanksgiving at Norwich Cathedral.

The cadets representing each of the Wing’s 28 Squadrons marched into the Cathedral Close to be formally inspected by the Central and East Region ATC’s Regional Commandant Group Captain Nigel Gorman.

New memorial unveiled in Cambridgeshire for #Somme100

A commemorative paving stone was laid in Buckden, Cambridgeshire this month to mark 100 years since the posthumous award of the VC to Captain John Green.

There was extensive involvement from the Cambridgeshire ACF, Kimbolton School CCF, the ATC and representatives of the Reserves.

People have been taking part in #Somme100 initiatives across the region to remember and honour those lost in WW1, including phtographing memorials with Operation Norfolk Remembers and social media campaigns like Walter Carter @WW1SoldiersTale where we follow a soldier's journey as he tweets about it 'live', give or take a century.
